So apparently the upcoming Deadpool film will ignore the events that took place in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I can’t remember if anything from that film found its way into X-Men: First Class or X-Men: Days of Future Past, but to be honest, at this point I don’t know what’s what or really care when it comes to most Wolverine-related issues. As for this Deadpool movie, I’ll admit to being a little curious, primarily because Ryan Reynolds has fought rather hard to get it made and, unless I’m mistaken, the goal is to make an R-rated movie featuring the title character referred to as the “Merc with a Mouth”.
As director Tim Miller prepares for the upcoming March shoot in Vancouver, with Reynolds recently tweeting out a behind the scenes shot (see below) announcing we are now one year away from the film’s February 12, 2016, the first new cast member has been announced. That new cast member, MMA star Gina Carano (Haywire, Fast 6), who will play Angel Dust, a remember of a mutant group referred to as Morlocks. She gets her name from the drug of the same name, which left her with the superhuman ability to chemically supercharge her adrenaline levels, temporarily granting her superhuman strength.
Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter brings word the character Colossus, the same one played by Daniel Cudmore in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class, will also be featured in the film, though no word on whether or not Cudmore will actually play the part.
