Legend
DIR: Brian Helgeland
TBA 2015
For starters, it stars Tom Hardy… secondly, it stars Tom Hardy… twice as he’ll play Reggie and Ronnie Kray as seen above for director Brian Helgeland in Legend, a story tracing the tortured and unique relationship between the two identical twin brothers, infamous for their criminal exploits in London during the 1950s and 1960s. Everest
DIR: Baltasar Kormakur
September 18
I know this one may come as a surprise, but for whatever reason the story behing Baltasar Kormakur‘s Everest has me fascinated. Hell, I would even be excited about the fact it’s being released in 3-D if it had been filmed in IMAX, but as far as I’m concerned that’s the pic’s only drawback.
Inspired by events, the movie tells of the story of two different expeditions to reach the top of Mt. Everest and the deadly challenges they ultimately face. The pic stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Martin Henderson, Emily Watson, Michael Kelly and Thomas M. Wright.

That’s What I’m Talking About
DIR: Richard Linklater
TBA 2015
With my expressed love for Richard Linklater‘s Before trilogy, That’s What I’m Talking About moves the story out of the ’70s and into the 1980s and follows an incoming college freshman who experiences his first weekend in college as a pitcher on the school’s baseball team, as he and his cohorts navigate the freedom and responsibility associated with their parent-free surroundings. I can’t wait.

Triple Nine
DIR: John Hillcoat
September 11
I almost forgot entirely about John Hillcoat‘s Triple Nine because every time I see the title my mind thinks it’s Triple Frontier, the Kathyrn Bigelow movie that has yet to be made. But no, Triple Nine is Hillcoat’s dirty cop drama featuring a cast that is almost too good to be true including Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Kate Winslet, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael B. Jordan, Anthony Mackie, Gal Gadot, Norman Reedus and Clifton Collins Jr.
As for the plot, here you go:
In Triple Nine, a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist and the only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down.” Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck action-packed finale tangled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.

The Revenant
DIR: Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu
December 25
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu‘s Birdman stands at #1 on my list of Top Ten Movies of 2014 and his next movie, The Revenant is off to an early start as my most anticipated of the new year. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, the story is based on the Michael Punke novel, “The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge.”
Here DiCaprio plays Hugh Glass, a 19th century fur trapper who is mauled by a grizzly bear, left for dead and then robbed. When he survives against all odds, he sets out on a treacherous journey to exact revenge on his betrayers. Will Poulter, Domhnall Gleeson, Lukas Haas and Brendan Fletcher also star.
And so that does it, those are my top twenty most anticipated movies of 2015 and if you haven’t yet looked through my list of the “right here.
