We all know Woody Allen is a prolific filmmaker. He has made at least one movie a year since 1982’s A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy, with one coming out later this year starring Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone. However, it seems he may have to take a year off from movie making, based on this bit of news.
Amazon Studios now has a bit of a hit on their hands with “Transparent“, picking up a couple Golden Globes the other night, and now they have something more to smile about. Woody Allen has signed up to write and direct a series for the studio, his first series ever. Obviously, with it being a Woody Allen project, we do not know anything about the actual story of the show, cast, etc.
Amazon says its customers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany will have access to the show next year. I, for one, will be extremely excited to see the show. I am a huge Allen fan, and even when his stuff isn’t great, I still look forward to the next thing.
As for Allen, he is predictably pessimistic about the show, saying:
I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this.
We all know he will deliver a product, and I hope it turns out to be great.
