Benedict Cumberbatch Confirmed for ‘Doctor Strange’, Reynolds Locked for ‘Deadpool’

Marvel has confirmed rumors that Benedict Cumberbatch will play the title role in Marvel’s Doctor Strange for director Scott Derrickson (Sinister) with a screenplay from Jon Spaihts (Prometheus). This casting was all but assumed, but Marvel slow-played the reveal as contracts most likely weren’t signed when they did their big announcement back in October.

The film will follow the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

Doctor Strange arrives in theaters November 4, 2016.

Next we have Ryan Reynolds who is apparently closing a deal to star in Deadpool, a spin-off from the 2009 summer hit X-Men Origins: Wolverine in which Reynolds starred as the wise-cracking mercenary. It was assumed he’d return after Fox set a February 12, 2016 release date, but nothing is confirmed until it’s confirmed… right?
