Michelle MacLaren Signs on to Direct ‘Wonder Woman’

Wonder Woman is a movie that needs to be good. This is not just because I am fan of the character, but a standalone, female-lead superhero movie is something that is extremely important. We can have The Hunger Games‘ Katniss, but Wonder Woman is THE female superhero. Unfortunately, she is being brought to us in the universe created by Zack Snyder, so my hope of it being good is quite small.

That being said, they have brought on a very talented director to develop the project: Michelle MacLaren. She is best known for being a frequent director of “Game of Thrones” and ““Breaking Bad“. I have not watch “Bad”, but I am extremely familiar with her “Thrones” episodes. I am particularly fond of her season three episode “Second Sons”, which can mine a tremendous amount of tension with the smallest moments.

I have my doubts on how involved as a producer Snyder will be on the project and how Gal Gadot will bring to life the superhero icon, but they at least made a good choice for the director. I am a DC Comics fan, and I chould be excited for these movies. I am just not.
