Christoph Waltz to Join ‘Bond 24’ as Possible Villain

Christoph Waltz is no stranger to playing villains. He won an Oscar for playing one of the most memorable ones in the past decade with Inglourious Basterds. Well, The Wrap is reporting he has joined the cast of Bond 24. It has not been confirmed as to whether or not he will be playing the villain in the film, but after the deal with Chiwetel Ejiofor did not come to fruition, that is the role strongly believed Waltz will be taking over.

Bond 24 will see the return of Daniel Craig as 007, Ralph Fiennes as M, Ben Whishaw as Q, and Naomi Harris as Moneypenny. Sam Mendes is coming back to direct after making the most financially successful Bond film of all time with Skyfall. Dave Bautista is rumoured to play a henchman. So, with that cast, it is almost impossible to fit Waltz in a slot that is not a villain.

Bond villains are a unique breed. They make for some scenery chewing greatness, and if Waltz becomes one of them, I think he could certainly enter the upper echelon of the famous rogues. He can play the camp, and he can play it very serious. So, either way they go with the character, barring that he is an interesting character, Waltz could be extraordinary. Skyfall was not one of my favorite Bond movies, but the way it ended put the series in a really classic Bond space. I am curious to see how all of it comes together.

And here’s a video of Waltz on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” performing a dramatic interpetation of the “Sesame Street” theme song, because why not?
