Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor Rumored for David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’

Jesse Eisenberg will become the latest actor to take on the villainous role of Lex Luthor in next summer’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and it would appear we can count on the character becoming a large part of the DC Comics cinematic multiverse as the character is now rumored to be taking part in David Ayer‘s Suicide Squad.

Deadline reports Eisenberg is in discussions to reprise Luthor in the film, which will be the direct follow up to Batman v Superman, centering on an antihero team of incarcerated supervillains who act as deniable assets for the United States government, undertaking high-risk black ops missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences.

It’s already been reported the studio and Ayer are looking to Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Will Smith to star, though now it seems Gosling has been taken out of that mix.

Ayer recently described the film saying, “I can say that it’s a Dirty Dozen with super-villains. Then I can ask the question, ‘Does a movie really need good guys?'”

Looking this over, the weird part is that WB is “in discussions” with Eisenberg to reprise the role? How does that work? Either Luthor is in the movie or not? Or would they possibly recast the role?

Yes, Eisenberg has Now You See Me 2 in the pipeline and apparently this would mean he couldn’t star in Todd Phillips’ Arms and the Dudes, but with Suicide Squad set for an August 5, 2016 release a decision will need to be made soon.
