One movie I’m looking forward to at this year’s Toronto Film Festival is Michael R. Roskam‘s The Drop, written by Dennis Lehane (based upon his short story “Animal Rescue”) and staring Tom Hardy, James Gandolfini, Noomi Rapace, James Frecheville, Matthias Schoenaerts, John Ortiz and Ann Dowd. Today the first clip from the movie featuring Hardy and Rapace has premiered online.
The Drop takes an inside look at Organized crime’s use of local New York City bars as money-laundering ‘drops’. When lonely Brooklyn bartender Bob Saginowski (Hardy) uncovers a drop of a different sort in the form of a battered pit bull puppy that he rescues from certain death, he comes into contact with Nadia (Rapace), a mysterious woman hiding a dark past.
Following its Toronto premiere, the film hits theaters on September 19. Watch the clip below.
