Grand Central premiered at Cannes back in 2013 and stars what one could call two of the highest profile French actors right now in Tahar Rahim (A Prophet, The Past) and Lea Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Color) and the film itself, directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, while not yet landing a domestic distributor, is set to hit theaters in the UK on July 18.
The story centers on Gary (Rahim) whose just accepted a job at a nuclear power plant. There, amongst the reactors and high doses of radioactivity, he finally finds what he’s been looking for: money, a team, a family. But the team also includes Karole (Seydoux), Toni’s wife, with whom he falls in love.
Judging by the trailer it looks like a bit of a mixed bag and I don’t remember it being much of a conversation piece in Cannes last year. In fact, I don’t specifically remember anyone mentioning it at all as it never even popped up on my radar.
Nevertheless, give the trailer a look and see if it holds some appeal for you.
