With every new picture from Guardians of the Galaxy there doesn’t seem to be anything all that “new” in any of them. I guess if you count the metal helmet/wig thing Lee Pace is wearing in the picture above as he plays Ronan the Accuser then I guess that’s new, but the rest are rather been there done that, so please excuse me if I don’t get too excited over these new pictures from Empire.
Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe beyond Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the rest of The Avengers as it journeys into the cosmos, where adventurer Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan (Pace), a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.
To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), a gun-toting raccoon, Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer (David Bautista). But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
The film hits theaters on August 1.
