I Can Support ‘Die Hard 6’ If Sam Jackson is Back

The Die Hard franchise has run its course. Let’s get that straight. However, if Fox feels it absolutely must continue then I guess I can throw my support behind a Die Hard 6 if this new rumor is indeed true.

Reported by Latino-Review.com correspondent, El Mayimbe, the scooper says Fox is meeting writers for takes on Die Hard 6, the catch is it must involve not only Bruce Willis‘s John McClane, but it must also include Samuel L. Jackson‘s Zeus Carver character from 1995’s Die Hard: With a Vengeance, which was directed by John McTiernan back in 1995.

Shortly after the release of the awful fifth installment, A Good Day to Die Hard, Fox reportedly began moving on a sixth film, which was said to be an earlier draft of Ben Trebilcook‘s treatment for what would have been Die Hard 4 before it became 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard.

Back then the report said the film would move the action from New York to Tokyo/ Trebilcook was quoted saying, “It is extremely faithful to the franchise and characters and is a natural progression. It’s also a very plausible storyline.”

Considering we’re talking about bringing back a character from the fourth film this sounds like it still could be working with the same idea, but I don’t know what Zeus, or McClane for that matter, would be doing in Tokyo.

I guess we’ll see what happens, but depending on my mood, I consider Die Hard and Die Hard: With a Vengeance to be on equal playing fields. The third film was great, not only because of the addition of Jackson, but Jeremy Irons was an excellent antagonist, something this franchise hasn’t had for two straight films now.
