I mentioned it in Batman vs. Superman.
The question is, now that Captain America: The Winter Soldier has blasted out of the gates with an April opening weekend record $96.2 million, does this make Warner Bros. second guess the decision to go head-to-head with the might Marvel machine? I previously assumed Marvel would be the one to blink first, but at this point I have to assume WB execs will be scrambling to secure another release date as the two of them occupying the same weekend makes zero financial sense.
Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo will again direct Captain America 3 while Zack Snyder is already at work filming the “Untitled Superman-Batman Project” for Warner Bros.
The biggest trouble WB faces in this instance is the Marvel Cinematic Universe is only going to get stronger between now and then with Guardians of the Galaxy later this year as well as Ant-Man and The Avengers: Age of Ultron next year while WB has nothing to build excitement for Man of Steel 2 outside of casting and plot rumors. At this point, they have got to move that date.
