X-Men: Apocalypse, because I know you’re wondering, is set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016 which means we might not see Wolverine 2 until 2017 or late 2016 at the earliest. As far as Hugh Jackman‘s involvement is concerned, he has yet to commit, but would a sequel without Jackman really make much sense?
Jackman is unlikely to show up in Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Apocalypse, which Singer has confirmed with THR that it will be set in the ’80s following the the time-traveling plot in X-Men: Days of Future Past (May 23), which allows for all the original X-Men cast members to reprise their roles.
Singer also said Apocalypse will “introduce familiar characters in a younger time” and “offer more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle.”
