Evangeline Lilly In Talks for Female Lead in Edgar Wright’s ‘Ant-Man’

Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) is reportedly in early talks to star in Ant-Man for director Edgar Wright in what is described as “the female lead”, though which character exactly is unclear.

Over at The Hollywood Reporter they do say there is no intention of this being a “one-off” character, which suggests whoever she ends up playing will become part of the larger cinematic universe.

Some are suggesting this means she’ll play the character known as Janet van Dyne (aka Wasp), or more specifically, the daughter of her father’s associate Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym (Michael Douglas) daughter and love interest for Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, to be played by Paul Rudd. All of which could make for an appearance in The Avengers 3 and the further adventures of Marvel’s men (and women) in tights.

Rounding out the cast, so far, is Michael Peña as the film is set to start production in April for a July 17, 2015 release.
