Your Box Office Predictions for ‘Jack Ryan’, ‘Ride Along’, ‘Devil’s Due’ and ‘Nut Job’

Laremy has been off to a rather slow start against the readers this year and it would seem to come as a result of him being a little too bearish on a lot of these predictions and it appears this weekend may be no different as the reader aggregate is higher than his prediction on all four films this weekend.

Beginning with Ride Along, the new Kevin Hart and Ice Cube comedy which is at a shameful 19% on RottenTomatoes if you were to compare it to the 63% for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Ride Along isn’t necessarily good, but when you compare it to a film with about as much energy as a funeral home and say the funeral home is more entertaining there is a little something wrong.

Laremy went with an even $20 million for Ride Along, but the readers bumped that total to $23.4 million and in this one I’m going to have to lean a little in the readers’ direction.

Next is said Jack Ryan, a dismally dull movie you’ve seen a variation of several times before with a group of woefully miscast actors working from a screenplay that never gave them a chance. Laremy went with an $18 million prediction, but despite the film’s quality I think it’s going to do rather well thanks to the blanket marketing and may even top the readers’ $19.7 million aggregate.

With even worse reviews than Ride Along is the new animated feature The Nut Job, which the readers predict will top out around $10.2 million, $600,000 higher than Laremy’s prediction and finally, Devil’s Due, the unscreened horror film that may be in a little bit of trouble considering it is coming out after Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, gets an $8.1 million prediction from Laremy and a $9.5 million aggregate from the readers.
