Box Office Actuals: Leaderboard Updated as ‘Frozen’ Tops Latest ‘Paranormal Activity’

The 2014 RopeofSilicon Box Office Challenge is officially underway and considering it’s only the first weekend we don’t have any accuracy percentages to track and the top ten is obviously cluttered as 17 people scored points this weekend, though a couple people did manage to earn points with their predictions on more than one film.

As far as the actual numbers go, Frozen dipped $1.2 million from estimates finishing with $19.5 million while Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones added an addition $100k to its total for an opening weekend of $18.3 million, already more than 3.5-times it’s $5 million budget.

The Wolf of Wall Street dropped a couple hundred thousand down to $13.2 million, as did The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which means instead of several people getting that one exactly right (as we had with estimates) it only ended up MM and austinjoel (our early leader) nailing that one.

I’ve listed the current top ten from the points leaderboards directly below, and for the complete box office top ten and points awarded for this weekend specifically click here.
