Word is the villain in Zack Snyder‘s Batman vs. Superman will be Lex Luthor and now Variety is reporting Joaquin Phoenix has been offered the role, but has yet to accept.
Following The Master last year and the growing awards potential of Her (one of the best films of 2013) this year, Phoenix has seemed to given us all enough reason to forget I’m Still Here even existed, but it also seems he’s not the first actor you’d think of for a studio blockbuster. Though, it’s hard to forget his great turn as Caesar in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator. Is he ready for a little something more mainstream? I’m sure film fans would welcome him to the role.
In other Batman vs. Superman news, Jason Momoa (“Game of Thrones”, Conan) was recently said to be in talks for a role in the film.
