What I Watched, What You Watched #222

It was a very busy week once again in theaters as I saw American Hustle, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Lone Survivor, all of which I will be reviewing soon along with Saving Mr. Banks. At home I also watched screeners of Ernest & Celestine and La grande bellezza (The Great Beauty), both I also hope to review for you and yet I still have a stack of screeners left to watch and many films I need to rewatch as I begin piecing together my top ten of 2013, a list that seems as if it won’t be very easy.

Next week I’ll be seeing The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug as my lone “in theater” movie, though I have a screener of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom here, several docs including Tim’s Vermeer, more animated features including A Letter to Momo and O Apostle and I also want to watch A Hijacking before the week is out.

The way 2013 has been so back-loaded it’s been incredibly difficult as of late to see everything I need to see as well as get the reviews out to you. On top of everything I just mentioned I still need to sort through the special features on Criterion’s release of Nashville. Of course, as much as this sounds like complaining, in my line of work this is the best kind of problems you can have… too much of a good thing, when it comes to movies, is never enough.
