Gal Gadot, whom most will know as Gisele from Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6 has been cast as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder‘s Batman vs. Superman beating out the likes of Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) and Olga Kurylenko for the role.
Snyder gave a statement regarding the casting saying, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
The Wonder Woman rumors have been around for some time, some saying it won’t necessarily be Wonder Woman showing up but her secret identity as Diana Prince. It’s also been said the Flash may make an appearance.
Gadot joins a cast that includes Henry Cavill who’s back as Superman, Ben Affleck who will play Batman along with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. Warner Bros. has already set a July 17, 2015 release date. [Variety]
