We’ve had a tie at the top of the Points Leaderboard for several weekends now as both Athar and Baca have had a hard time getting off 34 points. However, in the meantime, folks such as rusty, EPayneDDS and Ron Oneal Fresh are slowly climbing the rankings as we now have only four weekends left in 2013 for you to earn any points. With a maximum number of 20 points to be won each weekend it is still anyone’s game and some big titles are on the horizon, but for now let’s get to what happened this past weekend.
To begin, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire didn’t end up too far off estimates, bringing in $74.1 million for the weekend, which is still enough for the record, Thanksgiving three-day weekend and five-day weekend where it took in $109.9 million. The film has now managed more than $572 million worldwide after only 10 days in theaters.
Coming in second, Disney’s Frozen actually gained on its estimates, bringing in $700,000 more than estimated for a weekend total of $67.3 million. It too, obviously, maintained its record as the largest Thanksgiving opening for both the three and five-day weekend.
No change on the Homefront estimate as it stayed at $6.9 million and the tragic opening for Spike Lee‘s Oldboy got only marginally better as it brought in $885,382 for the three-day and $1.2 million since Wednesday.
I’ve listed the current top ten for both leaderboards directly below, but you can see the full list of rankings right here and for the complete box office top ten and points awarded for this weekend specifically click here.
