Well, only 94 of you competed this weekend and I don’t know what to do to get more of you to throw your hat in the ring. Nevertheless, I’m still having fun tracking your predictions and considering the reader in tenth place only has 20 points it’s not as if you couldn’t hit a hot streak in the final two months and find some way into the top ten, but I digress.
As for the predictions, both Laremy and the readers have Ender’s Game on top, though the readers went $1.8 million below Laremy’s $30.2 million prediction and, in fact, went lighter than Laremy on the top three films this weekend.
In second, both had the Thanksgiving-themed animated feature Free Birds and again the readers went $1.8 million below Laremy with a $16.7 million average.
The $1.8 million trend ended with Last Vegas and, instead, the readers were only $1.7 million under Laremy’s prediction, averaging $15.1 million for the geriatric bachelor party.
While I am curious to see what Ender’s Game does this weekend and what kind of fanbase and general audience appeal it may have, I’m also curious about the limited release of About Time. Hitting 175 theaters, Laremy has this one making $750,000 ($4,285 per) while the reader predictions ended up at $1.05 million ($6,000 per). Could it go even higher? It’s a pretty good movie and sits at a 65% RottenTomatoes rating right now.
