Your Box Office Predictions for ‘Bad Grandpa’, ‘Counselor’, ‘Blue is the Warmest Color’ and ‘Wadjda’

We’re going to have a new number one this weekend after Gravity held the crown for three weeks straight as Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is already off to a good start with a reported $1.4 million from midnight showings. What that will translate to in the end I’m not too sure, but according to the average reader prediction from yesterday I guess we should expect something around $30 million. This would place it right around the premiere of Jackass: Number Two, but $20 million behind 2010’s Jackass 3-D. Considering the budget is reported at $15 million I think Paramount will be happy doubling that in the film’s first three days.

Gravity is likely to still snag second and then in third we should find this weekend’s other new wide release, Ridley Scott‘s The Counselor. The reviews have been mixed and it looks like Laremy is a little more bullish than the readers whose average prediction runs at $12.9 million. The marketing has been good, but I expect the CinemaScore will be bad.

The final two releases we took a look at this weekend were the limited runs of Blue is the Warmest Color and Wadjda, both of which the readers have far more confidence in than Laremy. Might be interesting to see how high the two smaller releases can go.

I’ve included Laremy’s predictions and the average reader predictions directly below and I’ll be back on Sunday with box office estimates. To see Laremy’s full list of predictions and all 90 reader predictions for this weekend click here.
