What if the events of four of Tom Hanks‘ most epic films — Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Cast Away and Captain Phillips — were all actually one movie? Well, that’s what one YouTube user put to mind and the end result was the following trailer for what they call Tom Hanks: The Movie.
Given the scope of Forrest Gump it’s not as if the trailer is entirely illogical. It could be a bizzarro world Forrest Gump where Forrest graduates from college, joins NASA and flies the Apollo 13 mission, upon reentry, however, things go a bit different than history tells. He washes ashore on an island, crafts a raft, is saved by the Maersk Alabama, becomes captain and the rest, as they say, is history.
Admittedly, I would give it much higher marks had they managed to work Splash in at some point and at least a phone call or email to Meg Ryan. It could have even started with Big, but as is, it’s pretty solid.
