From what I could tell by reading the comments in yesterday’s The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones releasing in theaters two days early.
Mortal Instruments took in $3 million on its Wednesday opening, narrowly edging out The Butler. When it comes to predictions, Laremy has the film bringing in $17.5 million and a #1 result while the readers were far more reserved, placing the film behind this weekend’s new horror release You’re Next, finishing with $13.6 million.
Readers have You’re Next bringing $13.7 million and with a 79% RottenTomatoes rating compared to the 14% for Mortal Instruments it will be interesting to see if there is more support from the horror fans compared to the tweens that didn’t catch City of Bones on either Wednesday or Thursday.
Further down the ladder we have The World’s End, which the readers went $1.5 million higher than Laremy with an aggregate prediction of $8.8 million and they were $500,000 lower on their Blue Jasmine prediction, which expands to 1,200 theaters this weekend.
