UPDATE: Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ Not Moving Dates

UPDATE: It seems the report Noah was shifting dates to a Summer release is untrue. The film is still slated for a March 28, 2014 release.

Originally slated to hit theaters on March 28, 2014 I just assumed Paramount was trying to play some sort of tie-in with the near-Easter release for Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah. After all, a trailer of sorts has already been screened for some faith-based groups, but now Paramount has pulled it from that date and will release it at an unspecified point next Summer.

Why? One guess may be because this summer was so lacking in actual, big budget adult drama they may feel there is a hole to be filled. Another guess is they may want to start releasing some marketing material such as a trailer and poster, but don’t want to do so with a specific date attached that they may later have to change. Or, maybe they want to premiere it at the Cannes Film Festival in May. All mere speculation of course.

Noah is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah (Russell Crowe) is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter John Logan (Gladiator, Hugo). Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Dakota Goyo, Kevin Durand, Marton Csokas and Finn Wittrock co-star. [The Playlist]
