Vin Diesel has been teasing his potential involvement in a Marvel project for some time, but most of the talk has surrounded the possibility of him playing a character named Vision, but earlier today he posted a picture that has people talking on his Facebook page only to later have it removed entirely.
The picture was of a character named Groot, an extraterrestrial, sentient tree-like creature, that originally appeared as an invader who intended to capture humans for experimentation. Groot appears in director James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy and it’s a character that has not yet been cast. Has Diesel landed the job?
I read about this news over at ComingSoon and they reveal something even more interesting, which is apparently Groot only speaks one phrase, “I am Groot!” Considering his appearance I have to assume he’ll be a fully CG-realized character so could Marvel be courting Diesel to speak three words?
Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1, 2014 and currently stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, Lee Pace, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Benicio del Toro and Karen Gillan.
Production is underway as Bautista has already posted an image from the set on Twitter, but if all Diesel has to do is step into the studio to record three words I doubt he’ll be needed on set.
