Jake Gyllenhaal Squares Off Against Himself in First Picture from ‘Enemy’

Another title just added to the 2013 Toronto Film Festival is Denis Villeneuve‘s Enemy based on “The Double” by Nobel Laureate José Saramago and the first picture has just been sent over featuring star Jake Gyllenhaal.

Enemy explores the troubled psyche of a man who is torn between his mistress and his wife and as the picture above shoes, Gyllenhaal plays dual roles in this one, both Adam and Anthony — a man and his double. Mélanie Laurent, Isabella Rossellini, Sarah Gadon, Stephen R. Hart and Jane Moffat co-star.

You can get more information on the plot if you read the Wikipedia entry for Saramago’s 2002 novel.

This is the second film for Villeneuve and Gyllenhaal in the festival as the thriller Prisoners will also be premiering at the fest, which is already set for a September 20 release from Warner Bros. and co-stars Hugh Jackman.
