Box Office Results: Leaderboards Updated as ‘The Wolverine’ Comes in Lower than Estimated

The official box office results are in and The Wolverine came in almost $2 million less than originally estimated for an official $53.1 million opening weekend domestically, the lowest opening yet for any of the X-Men films (source. Worldwide it came in just under $140 million.

The Wolverine had an impact on the Accuracy Leaderboard as well as it came in $13 million lower than the reader average of $66 million, which caused for some movement on the Accuracy Leaderboard. At the same time the reader average was exactly right for our next film and yet no one had the exact number…

In second was The Conjuring with $22.2 million, only a 47% drop from last weekend. The racing snail better known as Turbo dropped only 36% from its lackluster opening weekend for a $13.7 million sophomore weekend.

Finally, of the films that were open for predictions, Fruitvale Station expanded to 1,064 theaters and clocked $4.5 million, a number three of the readers managed to get exactly right with “Ryguy815” the first to get his prediction in, securing him the five points at the top.

Speaking of which, Jack Tyler moved into the #1 position on the Points Leaderboard while Criterion10, who wasn’t even in the top ten last weekend, jumped to #1 on the Accuracy Leaderboard. Nice work, and it just goes to show, just sticking with it is all you need to stay in the hunt.
