‘Monsters University’ Tops Friday Box Office, ‘Heat’ is Hot, ‘White House Down’ is Not

No major surprises at the box office so far unless the lack of White House Down to break out is a surprise along with the fact the Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy‘s The Heat is eying a $40+ million weekend. If that surprises you then prepare to have your mind blown!

The winner for the second weekend in a row will be Pixar and Disney’s Monsters University, bringing in an estimated $14.2 million on Friday, just ahead of The Heat, which won’t be able to keep up due to its R rating.

The Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx starrer, White House Down is #3 with $9 million and will be competing against World War Z for that third slot come Sunday as only $100,000 separates the two for now.

Man of Steel rounds out the top five.
