Watch: First Look at ‘Need for Speed’ Movie Out of E3

The one thing director Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is going to face with his adaptation of EA’s popular racing game, Need for Speed, when it hits theaters on March 14, 2014 is a comparison to the Fast and Furious franchise, especially with the success of Fast & Furious 6 this year and Fast & Furious 7 already planned for July 11, 2014.

The film stars “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul alongside Imogen Poots, Dominic Cooper and Michael Keaton and is described as a “high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise.”

Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, muscle car mechanic and street racer Tobey (Paul) gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction. Tobey tears up the road in a gritty cross-country journey — one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption.

Today a first look preview of the film (via Bleeding Cool) out of E3 has arrived giving you a peek at the film. Have a look below and let me know if you think DreamWorks has something here or if the Fast comparisons are going to hurt them.
