Silver Linings Playbook hits DVD and Blu-ray next Tuesday, April 30, and included on the release will be the following alternate ending, which essentially extends the events seen in the film, drops the score and features De Niro’s character having a little fun with a guy in a Vikings jersey.
The way the film ended in the theatrical version felt right, it felt like an ending whereas what we see here feels more like a scene from the middle of the movie or from the end of a sitcom. Granted, some may argue Silver Linings Playbook was essentially a feature-length sitcom and in a lot of ways I don’t think I could argue with that… outside of the fact it was better than any sitcom I’ve ever seen, at least on a dramatic level considering nothing beats “Seinfeld”.
