‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Character Posters, TV Spot and Clip from Score

Several new items have arrived lately concerning Star Trek Into Darkness as a new trailer is set to premiere this Tuesday, April 16, beginning with a new TV spot for the film that premiered during the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

This is followed up by a slightly more interesting bit of details coming from TrekMovie who have quotes from composer Michael Giacchino talking about the sequel saying:

[Star Trek Into Darkness] is a much darker film. I think [Star Trek] has more of a sense of adventure going on, whereas [Into Darkness] is more of a sort of psychological danger that is happening behind the scenes. So the music is quite different. It is quite darker. It is more internal. It is not as celebratory as [Star Trek] is in many moments. And the film itself speaks to themes of the world today–sort of the geopolitical situation in the world. And it also kind of leans heavily on what is happening in the world today to tell the story.

If you’re interested in how that score will sound, here’s a live sample of the them music for Benedict Cumberbatch‘s villain character, John Harrison:

And, finally, I have four character posters featuring Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Chris Pine as Kirk and Cumberbatch as Harrison. The latter two are the Spanish versions and I assume domestic versions will be released in the coming days.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man (Benedict Cumberbatch) weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
