Anne Hathaway Joins Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’, which was Recently Scouting in Iceland

Christopher Nolan is ready to work with recnt Oscar winner Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables) once again after she starred as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises as she joins the cast of his next film, Interstellar, alongside Matthew McConaughey. There is no specific word on what role she’ll be playing and as far as McConaughey is concerned, all that’s known is his character’s name is Cooper.

As for the storyline, it involves time travel and alternate dimensions in a story that sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. The script was written by Nolan’s brother, Jonathan Nolan, and is based on scientific theories developed by a Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, a gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech. Like Nolan’s Inception, the story is said to be “complex and multi-layered”.

Meanwhile, Icelandic news source Frettatiminn (via Svarthofdi) reports Nolan was recently in Iceland scouting locations for the film over Easter weekend.

Bjorn Helgason, CEO of foreign production in Sagafilm, told Frettatiminn, “Yes, Christopher Nolan was here on our behalf during Easter, but I can’t say more.”

Iceland recently provided the amazing landscapes seen in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus as well as the upcoming Tom Cruise movie Oblivion and Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah.

Warner Bros. has set a November 7, 2014 release date for Interstellar. [Deadline]
