Transcendence is sure to get its fair share of watchful eyes, primarily because it’s the feature directorial debut of Wally Pfister, cinematographer on the majority of Christopher Nolan’s films including Inception, which he won an Oscar for, and The Dark Knight trilogy.
The film is a sci-fi feature starring Johnny Depp as Will, a scientist who is murdered by anti-technology terrorists, but his wife (Rebecca Hall) uploads his brain into the supercomputer he created, allowing him the ability to communicate through it and continue conducting his research.
Paul Bettany is also a part of the cast and today we learn Kate Mara (“House of Cards”) has also found a spot, though her character’s role in the film is currently unknown. Kate’s sister Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Side Effects) was once up for the role that eventually went to Rebecca Hall.
Transcendence is currently slated for release on April 25. [Variety]
