1.) A synopsis for Michael Bay‘s Transformers 4 has made its first appearance in a rather unlikely place as filming heads toward Detroit, Michigan and the Michigan Film Office has issued a press release announcing the film has been awarded an incentive of $20 million on $81,933,992 of projected in-state expenditures. In addition you get the following plot synopsis:
Transformers 4 is set to hit theaters on June 27 and the cast currently includes Mark Wahlberg, Brenton Thwaites, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor.
2.) Kiefer Sutherland has joined the cast of Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Pompeii, joining Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”), Emily Browning and Jared Harris. Here’s the synopsis:
Set in late summer 79 A.D., Pompeii revolves around the slave (Harington) of a shipping tycoon who dreams of the day he can buy his freedom and marry his master’s daughter (Browning). What the slave doesn’t know is that she’s already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator (Sutherland), while he’s been sold to another owner.
Just when things can’t get any worse, Mt. Vesuvius erupts with the power of 40 nuclear bombs. But the slave is trapped on a ship headed for Naples, separated from his love and best friend, a gladiator who is trapped in the city’s coliseum. As fire and ash destroy the only world he’s ever known, the slave is determined to get back and rescue them.
Filming is already underway and the project is expected to hit theaters in 2014 and once completed, Anderson will turn his attention to Resident Evil 6, which is already set for a September 12, 2014 release. [THR]
3.) I spent most of my day traveling yesterday as I am taking a little mini-vacation, but following the Deadline]
4.) An interesting addition to the cast of Thor: The Dark World has recently announced his involvement. Chris O’Dowd, best known for Bridesmaids and the recently released The Sapphires says he has “one scene” in the new Marvel movie. It sounds small, and will likely be for a bit of comic relief so keep your eyes out on November 8, 2013. [indiewire]
5.) Vera Farmiga and Dax Shepard have joined the cast of David Dobkin‘s The Judge. The two join Robert Downey Jr. who plays a lawyer returning home after his mother’s funeral only to learn his estranged father, the town’s judge (Robert Duvall), is suspected of murder. Farmiga will play a waitress in the small town. Vincent D’Onofrio also stars with shooting beginning this June in Boston. [Deadline]
