While rumors circulated this morning that Steven Spielberg would return to the Jurassic Park franchise to direct Jurassic Park IV, it has just been announced Safety Not Guaranteed helmer is going big for his sophomore effort as Colin Trevorrow will direct the fourth film in the franchise, which has already been set for a June 13, 2014 release.
The latest script was written by Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, though at the moment no story details have been revealed. The film will be shot in 3-D and released 13 years after the last installment, which was directed by Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger).
Spielberg is still aboard as a producer along with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley.
The move for Trevorrow is similar to the one made by Marc Webb who made his debut with (500) Days of Summer only to follow that up with The Amazing Spider-Man and he is now directing The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Can only wonder if Trevorrow will also make directing Jurassic Park films a habit.
