On March 29 the next franchise hopeful from “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer hits theaters in the form of The Host. The book itself came nowhere close to reaching the fame of Meyer’s “Twilight” novels so the support will be interesting. Clearly the audience that loved Twilight wasn’t interested in supporting a similarly themed story in Beautiful Creatures and so their dedication to the author in this case is something Open Road will have to depend on.
The budget on the project is currently estimated at somewhere around $44 million and the future-set love story finds an Earth occupied by a species who erase the minds of their human hosts, leaving their bodies intact. Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) is one of the last surviving humans who fights back, risking her life for the people she cares about most — Jared (Max Irons), Ian (Jake Abel), her brother Jamie (Chandler Canterbury) and her Uncle Jeb (William Hurt) — proving that love can conquer all.
Today I have three clips from the film to share, which may give you an idea of what’s in store. Give ’em a look and let me know your thoughts on how it might all turn out.
