Rapace On ‘Prometheus 2’, Binoche Up for ‘Godzilla’ and Polishing ‘Fantastic Four’

1.) Juliette Binoche is in negotiations to join Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen in director Gareth EdwardsGodzilla reboot, based on the classic Toho original for Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures. No word exactly on the story, but it’s expected to return to the classic roots rather than the awful Roland Emmerich version from 1998. Oh, and it will most likely be in 3-D. [Variety]

2.) Seth Grahame-Smith‘s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter screenplay didn’t exactly invite legions of fans and neither did his screenplay for Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, but he’s not giving up and the studios aren’t giving up on him. Fox hired Grahame-Smith to do a polish on Jeremy Slater’s screenplay for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot to be directed by Chronicle helmer Josh Trank. The story is based on the 1960s comic centering on a “family” of superheroes including Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Girl, the Human Torch and the Thing and word is the new reboot is taking a grounded superhero and sci-fi approach to the heroes and will tap deep into the comics mythology, which featured not just the better-known villains such as Doctor Doom and Galactus but also alien races the Kree and the Skrull, and the anti-matter universe known as the Negative Zone. 3.) Noomi Rapace was asked about the status of Prometheus 2 while doing press rounds for her upcoming film Dead Man Down and says development is underway, telling The Playlist, “They’re working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It’s just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will.”

4.) At one point Bradley Cooper was going to star in a remake of The Crow, but the project fell apart before it could happen. Now the new rumor has James McAvoy starring as Eric Draven and F. Javier Gutierrez directing. We’ll see how this latest iteration pans out. [BD]

5.) Featured below is concept art from Iron Man 3 and folks that know more about comics than me are calling it Iron Man’s “Heartbreaker” armor and apparently it will be seen at some point in the new film. In addition to that, DarkHorizons has a quote from Robert Downey Jr. talking about whether or not he would like to continue to play Tony Stark beyond The Avengers 2. He said:

“It would probably be the best thing in the world for me. Sometimes ego just has to be smashed. Let’s see what happens. I take the audience very seriously – I feel bad when I see folks doing movies and the audience is like, ‘Don’t do that anymore.’ I don’t have to overstay my welcome… I feel that the first time I played Tony, I did it best. Sorry!”

Now here’s that armor:
