‘Dragon Tattoo’ Helmer Eyes ‘Flatliners’ Remake

Some will recognize the name Niels Arden Oplev immediately as the director of the original, Swedish The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo starring Noomi Rapace. Others will, at the very least, remember those films. Oplev is now turning his attention to English-language films and on March 8 his latest, Dead Man Down, which also stars Rapace alongside Colin Farrell and Terrence Howard, will hit theaters and it sounds like he may already have his next film line up after that.

Bloody-Disgusting reports Oplev is eying a remake of Joel Schumacher‘s 1990 film Flatliners, which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt. The film focused on five medical students who developed an experiment that would actually cause themselves to flatline in an attempt to further explore the blackness between this life and the next. Things, obviously, go wrong.

The report doesn’t include any additional information, but considering press rounds for Dead Man Down will be underway any second I’m sure more will arrive soon enough, just as I assume Oplev will be asked about his upcoming helming duties on the pilot episode of “Under The Dome” for CBS, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel brought to television.
