I‘m going out on a limb on a couple of my 2013 Oscar predictions, but I don’t think any of these predictions are so wild as to be surprising or so outrageously crazy a miracle would have to happen for them to come true.
Like most years, this year’s Oscars has its share of locks. This year that includes Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln) for Best Actor, Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables) for Best Supporting Actress, Amour for Best Foreign Language Film and Searching for Sugar Man for Best Documentary.
Then you have your “most likely” winners, which includes Argo for Best Picture, Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook), Claudio Miranda (Life of Pi) for Best Cinematography, Adele‘s “Skyfall” for Best Song, Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) for Best Score and it would seem Curfew and Paperman have their respective Best Short Film categories wrapped up.
However, there is still a lot left to explore. Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Animated Film and even the Best Screenplay categories could go several ways. My predictions in the Sound categories don’t match up with other prognosticators and I’m trying to figure out whether or not Anna Karenina will be able to hold on in Costumes and Production Design considering it floundered upon release.
But I’ll get into all of that and then some directly below while you will also have the chance to vote in the poll for each category. And remember to vote on who you think will win, not who you want to win.
The Oscars will take place this Sunday, February 24 and we will be here live-blogging the event as well as providing breaking news alerts with the winners. It should be fun and I hope you’ll join us… Now let’s get to the predictions…
