Described as a valentine to New York City, IFC will release Noah Baumbach‘s Frances Ha starring Greta Gerwig and Mickey Sumner on May 17 and today they’ve delivered a clip from the film along with the poster.
Due to timing conflicts I wasn’t able to catch Frances Ha in Toronto last year, but the response seemed to be warm and I’m looking forward to seeing it.
The story centers on Frances (Gerwig) who lives in New York, but she doesn’t really have an apartment. Frances is an apprentice for a dance company, but she’s not really a dancer. Frances throws herself headlong into her dreams, even as their possible reality dwindles. Frances wants so much more than she has but lives her life with unaccountable joy and lightness. Frances Ha is a modern fable in which Baumbach explores New York, friendship, class, ambition, failure, and redemption.
