.) Details have emerged for the WWE Studios Leprechaun reboot Leprechaun: Origins. The script is still in the works, but we do know WWE superstar Dylan “Hornswaggle” Postl is taking over the lead role from Warwick Davis, who starred in franchise’s previous six (SIX?!) entries. Studio President Michael Luisi did say there’s a chance Davis could make a cameo in the film, which he says will have a darker tone than fans of the series might be used to. “[We’re] trying to find a way to please fans of that genre but at the same time this is really being played for scares,” he concluded. 2.) Rosario Dawson has joined the cast of Queen of the Night for director Atom Egoyan (Chloe, The Sweet Hereafter). Ryan Reynolds, Scott Speedman and Mireille Enos were previously cast in the thriller. Reynolds will play the father of an abducted child who begins uncovering clues eight years later that suggest she might still be alive. I may have said this before, but doesn’t that sound a lot like THR]
.) Maria Bello (A History of Violence) will hunt ghosts with Frank Grillo (Zero Dark Thirty, The Grey) in an untitled thriller produced by Saw and Insidious director James Wan. Will Canon (Brotherhood) will direct the pair as they play a phychologist and a policeman who interrogate the lone survivor of a ghost-hunting excursion that left five people dead. The film once carried the title House of Horror, but will continue into production without a title for now. [Variety]
.) A film called The Last of Robin Hood is being made about movie star Errol Flynn and his teenage mistress with Kevin Kline and Dakota Fanning in the lead roles. The swashbuckling screen icon died in 1959 at the age of 50 with 17-year-old budding actress Beverly Aadland at his side.
Susan Sarandon will play Aadland’s mother Florence, who wrote the 1961 book “[amazon asin=”0446301590″ text=”The Big Love”]” accusing Flynn of starting a sexual relationship with her daughter when Beverly was just 15. The two starred together in Flynn’s final film, Cuban Rebel Girls and, interestingly enough, Flynn reportedly lobbied with Stanley Kubrick to cast he and Beverly in Lolita before the affair turned into a major scandal. The team of Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland (Quinceanera) wrote the script and will direct. [Deadline]
.) Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, Let Me In) is attached to star in Summit’s If I Stay, a music drama with a supernatural twist. She’d play a 17-year-old classical music prodigy with an indie rocker boyfriend. When she and her family are involved in a car accident, she’s faced with a choice between life and death. Summit originally viewed the project, an adaptation of Gayle Forman‘s novel, as a vehicle for Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke Variety]
