I can’t quite tell what to make of Beautiful Creatures. Clearly Warner Bros. is making an attempt to kickstart a new young adult franchise considering we’re talking about a film adapted from the best-selling series of novels by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, but a February release date isn’t exactly favorable placement.
The film is described as a supernatural love story set in the South, telling the story of two star-crossed lovers: Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich), a young man longing to escape his small town, and Lena (Alice Englert), a mysterious new girl. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum and Emma Thompson co-star.
