As a result of a perceived lack of interest and an obvious lack of involvement I am not going to shut down the RopeofSilicon Movie Club, but I am going to adjust the schedule and the way it is set up.
As of now the next three films set to be discussed are Wings of Desire (1988), The Conversation (1974) and The Great Silence (1968) and they have been moved into January and February with Wings of Desire set for discussion on January 7, The Conversation on January 21 and The Great Silence on February 4. The discussion for the winner of the latest poll will take place on February 18.
Instead of one film each week, I am going to do only two films a month. I enjoy watching and writing about the movies that are included, but if over 100 people are going to vote on what film we “watch” and then only 10 are going to participate in the conversation I see no reason to extend my work week to make sure I’m having a conversation with myself. I haven’t lost my mind quite yet.
So there will be no further Movie Club entries for 2012 with the discussion (or what there was of a discussion) of Erik Skjoldbjærg’s Insomnia being the last of the year.
