Paramount has revealed the first poster for Star Trek Into Darkness, the sequel to J.J. Abrams franchise reboot, which will bring back Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban and feature newcomers that include Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, Peter Weller and Noel Clarke.
Only recently was the official synopsis revealed:
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man (Benedict Cumberbatch) weapon of mass destruction.
As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
The question now, I guess, is what exactly are we looking at in this first poster? What world has been destroyed? Personally, it reminds me of the final shot from the first season of “Enterprise”, how about you?
Star Trek 2 hits theaters on May 17, 2013 and was written by Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The first trailer will play in front of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14, though fans that attend screenings of The Hobbit in full-sized 70mm IMAX 3D will be treated to the first 9 minutes of the film.
