Apparently the monsters in Guillermo del Toro‘s upcoming monster movie Pacific Rim are called Kaiju (which I think I knew, but just chose not to remember) and this morning a Kaiju Emergency Alert System video was making the rounds (see the bottom of this post) and now a second video featuring a viral news story covering the destruction caused by one of the monsters attacking San Francisco has arrived.
I watched the video and am now getting the sense Pacific Rim is sort of a “What if more than one of the monsters in Cloverfield attacked?” kind of movie. The answer, build giant, human-controlled robots called Jaegers and put Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi in charge. As any del Toro film will rightly do, Ron Perlman also has a role along with Idris Elba and Charlie Day.
The film hits theaters on July 12, 2013 and the first trailer is rumored to be attached to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. But, for now, check out the videos along with a blueprint look at what goes into the making of one of the Jaegers (give the image a click for a larger version).
