The Marketing for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Begins

I spent the majority of my day with family touring a few wineries in the Woodinville, Washington area and was happy to return to the office to see the only story I missed in the process of the day was the following motion poster for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire particularly because it isn’t really anything at all. I mean, it’s no different than the last poster, which is to say once again the Mockingjay symbol is gold and on fire.

Apparently this logo was revealed in theaters this past weekend as what is being called “a special preview to movie-goers” but I fail to see what makes it special… Am I missing something?

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire recently finished production as star Jennifer Lawrence will next head off to become Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but first she must complete her campaign tour for what will most likely be her first Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. Somewhere in there we’ll also see her in Serena for Susanne Bier, but that film doesn’t even have a studio yet so we’ll hold off on anticipation.

As for Catching Fire, the story begins as Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour’ of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

The film is directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) who also already signed on to direct The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2. Catching Fire hits theaters on November 22, 2013, check out the motion poster below.
