Explore the Visual Effects of Neo Seoul in ‘Cloud Atlas’

After this weekend I’m sure all the attention paid to Cloud Atlas will focus on its box-office performance more than anything else. Already articles are calling the $100 million budgeted epic a flop and adding it to the pile of 2012 features that already includes John Carter and Battleship. Yup, three days in and the rather risky venture from Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer is seemingly done.

While I believe Cloud Atlas is a flawed film, I also believe it is one that should most certainly be seen on the big screen. I would have hated for my first time with this movie to be at home while I sit on my couch. That said, hopefully this new effects video will give you a little more reason to go see it.

Just watching this video and knowing the size of the massive and impressive cast, it makes me wonder how any film can be made for over $100 million if the Wachowskis and Tykwer can pull off something like this with that budget. And this video only represents one piece of the puzzle as it focuses on the work done by Method Studios to create Neo Seoul and its vehicles, magnetic roadways and architecture built on top of the old Korea.
