One thing that might not be known about Rian Johnson, writer/director of Brick, The Brothers Bloom and this week’s new movie Looper, is that he also collaborates with two of his cousins on each release.
First there’s Nathan Johnson who worked as composer on all three of Rian’s films. Then there’s Zachary Johnson who created posters for all three of Rian’s films and whose work was most recently on display in a just-released animated trailer for Looper (co-created with artist Noah Fisher), which also features samples from Nathan’s score for the film.
Here’s a note Zachary wrote on his blog regarding the video:
My friend Noah Fisher and I made this hand-painted, rotoscope animation trailer for Rian Johnson’s new film Looper, starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt. The animation also features music from Nathan Johnson‘s haunting and beautiful score, which is now available for purchase over at iTunes.
You can purchase matted prints of 15 individual paintings from the animated trailer here along with more of Zach’s work.
I have included the animated trailer along with all three of Zach’s posters that he’s created for Rian’s movies directly below.
