Ariel vs. Anakin: ‘Star Wars’ to Battle ‘Little Mermaid’ in 3D Next Fall

Earlier this year Fox and Lucasfilm re-released Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace into theaters in 3D adding an additional $43 million to the film’s domestic total and a total of $102.7 million worldwide. Well, that appears to be enough to send Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith back into theaters with the 3D treatment as well.

The two films will be released back-to-back next fall with Clones arriving on September 20, 2013 and Sith following shortly after on October 11, 2013.

The only newcomer currently slated for September 20 is Ron Howard‘s Rush, but 3D screens will be in demand as Disney will re-release The Little Mermaid in 3D one week before Clones. As of now the October schedule is essentially wide open with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and The Seventh Son bookending the October 11 Sith release for the time being.
